Mr. Wertz’s engineering career began in 1997 and has primarily focused on transportation construction engineering and project management, but he also has extensive experience in design. He has worked on multiple bridge and highway projects in South Carolina and throughout the country, including over a dozen design-build projects with a combined contract value of over $5 billion. Mr. Wertz is a former SCDOT employee, where he worked in bridge design at headquarters and on the Cooper River Bridge Replacement project in Charleston. His combination of experience in both construction and design gives him the technical expertise to serve ICE in multiple facets as a Senior Project Manager.
Mr. Wertz received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Clemson University and earned his master’s degree in business administration from the University of South Carolina. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in California, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, and he is certified as a Designated Design-Build Professional through the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA).
