This design-build project consisted of the replacement of Bryan’s Dairy Road Bridge over Abbapoola Creek. ICE provided preliminary road and bridge design, hydrology design calculations, geotechnical report, surveys, and contractor quality control. Additionally, the scope of work included identifying utilities and verifying existing right-of-ways early to avoid delays during construction. Traffic during the detour was maintained via staged demolition of the existing bridge. The site was accessed for demolition and construction by utilizing the existing causeway and barges. Temporary impacts to the environment were further minimized by adhering to the construction moratorium requiring all in-water work to take place between November and March. ICE’s design considerably reduced impacts to the environment. The final bridge is a cored slab bridge supported on pile bents. The total length of the bridge is 300ft which includes 6 spans.
