This design-build project consisted of providing the design and construction services necessary to replace three structurally deficient overpass bridges over I-285 starting 1.7 miles north of the I-285/I-20 East Interchange. The work included the SR 12/US 278 (Covington Highway) bridge replacement over I-285 and associated interchange reconstruction, Redwing Circle bridge replacement over I-285, and Glenwood Road bridge replacement over I-285 and associated interchange reconstruction. The project also included the addition of 6′ sidewalks, raised median with crosswalks, and several retaining wall layouts including soil nail walls and modular retaining wall systems.
ICE served as the Lead Design Consultant responsible for overall design project management, roadway design, structural design, hydraulic/hydrological design, bike/pedestrian facilities design, traffic engineering, utility coordination, environmental permitting, geotechnical services, and construction phase support services.
