This design-build interchange reconstruction project consisted of adding an additional structure over I-85 at SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to provide a displaced left turn (DLT) for the westbound to southbound movement. It also included the addition of a braided ramp from the I-85 northbound off-ramp to the I-85 Access Road with a new bridge for the I-85 northbound on-ramp. The work also included replacing the SR 42/North Druid Hills Road bridge over North Fork Peachtree Creek, lighting, realigning the roadway at the new driveway location of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), and rehabilitation/modification of the existing SR 42 bridge over I-85.
ICE served as the Lead Design Consultant responsible for overall design project management, roadway design, structural design, bike/pedestrian facilities design, hydraulic/hydrological design, traffic operations design, traffic control systems design, utility coordination, environmental compliance, and geotechnical design.
